1st semester :)

Whoa! This semester is being very different to the other ones. I'm not in my first year at the University and I feel like I don't have the same right to make mistakes like I had it the last year. But also I'm more secure of what I am doing in this city, what I am studying, and how much I care about the people around me. I'm leading with living on my own with a friend, and it's turning great. Also I 'm getting new responsibilities in my social media, and I'm trying to get used to it. For example, this semester I began to work as an helper or assistant of the freshmen of my career. It's nice to help them in this new experience, and by this way I have met many of them; but I've had to spend some of my free time in organize the subject, studying and teaching some contents of it. Anyway, if I have the opportunity of taking this chance again, I will, and I'll try to be better this time.
During this last months I have made new friends, and I have learned new things. I've seeing my family almost every weekend, and also, my mom learned how to use whatsapp, so she's regularly sending me messages and photos of my dogs in Curicó.
The sad part is that I feel I haven't got enough time to enjoy with my old friends like in the past. My friends of school don't study near my house, and they've been busy with their studies and boyfriends.
In theory, the first semester is already gone, but for me it's still open, and it will be until I get my vacations!!

Doggy style

All my life I've been a big fan of animals. When I was younger I was always playing in my garden with different kind of bugs, like ants or snails. I specially loved birds, like seagulls, swallows and parrots. My great-grandma used to have chicks in her house, and I really liked to feed them and pet them. But my favorite ones were the dogs.
My family adopted a dog called Lupi before my birth, and he died at 17 years-old when I was only 11 years old. Then my dad said he wouldn't accept another animal in the house, but my aunt gave us a puppy and my father had to accept it. We call her Morita.
Last year, she got pregnant and we decided to keep one of those puppies, so we have two dogs now, Morita and Bianca. They are totally part of the family, and we love them more than anything.  
Morita and Bianca have a great life. In summer, we take them to the beach; and in the cold days of winter, they take long naps in front of the fireplace. They sleep in our beds and in the morning they wake up everyone in the house by licking us in our faces.
I wish every dog could have a family. My mom always says that people who love animals can't be bad persons, because that is the most genuine and selfless kind of love that someone can find, and maybe she is right. At least, I think so.

eco challenge

A lot of people don't usually think about environment. Maybe because we are so used to our environment that we don't care about it that much as we must to. If a natural disaster happens, everyone worries about its consequences, but there many situations we could fix out day to day. It's important people teaching their children how to take care of our environment by adopting simple practices like recycling and spending just the water we need. 
Personally, I've never incorporated recycle as an usual practice, and I assume that's my fault. I do have a bicycle now, and it's pretty nice. In fact, tomorrow I'm buying  a helmet and some kind of chain so I can finally use my new bike. When I rode it for the first time I was a little scared because I haven't ride bike in the streets before, but everything went better than I expected. It was such a great feeling, specially when I was faster than the bus I usually take. 
The last friday I also join into a eco-organisation from Facso. The members are each friendly and they have a lot of good ideas to develop with the rest of the students. I'm a little afraid of not having enough time for this commission, but I'm trying to give the best of me this semester, so I can accomplish all my responsibilities and also have a good time.

visual art!

Visual arts are important because of the same reasons than the others: they allow to show us a little of the human spirit. Each kind of art has its own way to express how the people feel about their life and rest of the world. I really enjoy the moment when you're staring in front of a picture and you begin to wonder what inspired the artist to paint it. But I really don't know about famous artist. I know I like Frida Kahlo and René Magritte. I don't like museums that much. I have to admite that one of my worries is that I never know how many time do I have to spend staring the things. 

Instead, my main contact with visual arts are the illustrators I met in the internet. They usually draw quick and nice pictures about the human being: music, gender, love, literature, and more.  My favorite illustratore are Gabi Rubi, Ricardo Siri Liniers and Emba. Gabi Rubi took my heart when I discovered his drawings about Spinetta's and Cerati's songs. Emba makes beautiful minimalist pictures and Ricardo Siri Liniers draws pretty good comics. It's great when this kind of artist win a lot of support from the people on the internet because it is an efficent and free way to appreciate urban expressions.

strawberry fields forever

It's hard talking about my "future job", because I barely know what I am studying for haha. If we'd live in a best world, I'd love to live in the country and having my own fields. I know that job implies a lot of work, specially in summer, and also a huge risk because of the weather, but I think that getting food from the earth by myself would be an amazing experience. Also, I'd work with my family and I wouldn't have to live in a city.
But we all know there are a lot of problems all over the world, and we can't stay staring at it. Maybe studying sociology isn't the best way of changing the world, but I've decided to learn how the things work, and then putting that knowledge in practice.  I would like to work in rural areas of Chile, making projects to solve problems that we haven't in the city, like the access to water or the modifications of the roads. It sounds a little boring, but I'd get the chance of meeting different villages and their people. Another interesting topic for me is feminism, so I would like to do research about how do the woman in this rural areas lives. Doing this by myself is impossible, but that's okay because I'm good working in teams.

Mary Jane

When you are a child everyone in your family, school and even TV try to teach you how to react to drugs. They tell children about being careful of all kind of drug, but when they grow up, no one gives a good explanation about it. There are substances that make you euphoric and others that make you quiet. Also some of those make you violent. It depends a lot of each person, I think.

In my country, there are too many smokers, and drinking alcohol is a regular activity in any kind of celebrations and parties. I'm agree with that I guess.
About marijuana, I obviously think that this drug should be legal. Many scientific researches have proved the advantage of its use in areas like medicine and psychology, specially with cancer and stress. And well, is very funny too, isn't it? I don't believe that marijuana is a gateway to harder drugs. There are obviously cases where people smoke marijuana and then try harder drugs, but that's not a law or something like that.

As a society, we should talk more about this topic. When people are informed, everyone is more able to take their own decisions. Even if all the drugs are legalized, the taboos about drugs would still exist, at least at the beginning. Obviously, there would be less drug trafficking, and maybe the drugs would came cheaper hehe

music time!

Last summer I enjoyed a new experience. My friends and I went to Woodstaco, an outdoor festival near my natal city, Curicó, taking place in a huge area down the mountains. Woodstaco is a weekend experience, where you sleep in tents and eat... any food you can get. In this case I have to recognize I didn't know most of the bands, because they were more than 100! This was our first time in the festival, so we weren't prepared enough, but still we had an awesome time. The worse thing was the weather. It was extremely hot :( Fortunately, we were close to the river, and after the sunset, we could enjoy the music with no problems. I saw a lot of new bands that I liked and I met old and new friends. There were rockers that gave us wine and vodka, girls dancing in a strange way, a few mothers with their babies, and lots of stoned young people. At the end we were exhausted, but it was definetly worthed: 3 days of music and nature with 4 different stages in the middle of the hills!
I completely recommend this festival.

Movies!!

Watching movies is one of my favorites hobbies, specially in winter break. My mom is always asking me to download movies, because in our natal city there isn't a good cinema. My favorite ones are drama movies, they usually make me cry. The movie director I like the most is Hayao Miyazaki, he's a japanese genius of animation, and his movies are full of magic and unique characters.
Anyway, my favorite movie isn't a Miyazaki's creation. The best movie I've ever seen is called Cloud Atlas. I saw it last year for the first time. I think I'm not even able to tell what is it about exactly, and that's why I love it that much. The sense of the movie is showing how the actions of individual lives impact one another through the time. I've already seen Cloud Atlas three times, but I'm searching for the book right now, by David Mitchell. The directors are Wachowski's brothers, and some of the actors are Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant and my beloved one, Jim Sturgess. In the movie there are different stories through the  passing of time, and each actor plays a different role in each story. That's an awesome idea, so I would definitely recommend it if you want to watch something strange and beautiful at the same time.
PS: the music in the movie is great too.

just dreaming ~

Hi!
You know, I've always thought that every city is a good place to visit if you know how to, but if you ask me where I'd like to travel I would choose Italy with no doubts. Basically because of the weather, the landscapes, the culture and the cities that surely remain from the Renaissance times.
Also because I have never been on a country where spanish is not the main language, and I think that italian is way much easier to understand than russian, for example. In Italy, I would try to travel by train to different cities like Milan, Turin, Florence, or others. In my trips I would spend lots of money on food, specially on pizza and pasta (for breakfast, lunch and dinner). I recognise myself as the biggest fan of italian food. But even if Italy could be the greatest country ever, I’d only live there when I get on, because I want to work in my home first for some years, Chile. I don't mind spending my whole vacations on Milan, though.
